January 21

Hello ACS,
Once again, we have snow days! I want to thank parents, students, and teachers for working so well during this season of unpredictable weather. Hopefully, it is not putting our classes too far behind and families are not getting too stir-crazy. I actually heard students say they want to have school!!
I also want to take a moment to encourage everyone to attend our school carnival. It is a lot of fun and a great time to invite family and friends to join us. For further information, see below.
Student Council: The student council is busy preparing for the upcoming Student Carnival, Saturday, Jan. 29, from 6-9 pm. There will be hot dogs, chili, and homemade desserts to buy. The student council re-creates the ROC into a giant game room where each game is worth a number of tickets. Tickets will be for sale at the door. The senior class show this year will be ACS Best Dance Crew. Once again, we will have our annual pie in the face contest. For those of you who are new, students may place money on anyone in the school to receive a pie in the face. The top money raisers will be “presented with” their pie the night of the carnival. Also, people bid as to who actually “gives” the pie to our lucky winners. It is a great fundraiser and lots of fun. Please plan now to join us for a wonderful family fun night and our biggest student council fundraiser of the year. High School students – instead of Bible class on Wednesday, Jan. 26, you will have a stu co meeting.

Youth Leadership Program: Parents and students in 10th and 11th grades, I wanted to inform you of a new leadership program that the Chamber of Commerce is developing. On Friday, Jan. 28, at 8:40 am, Miranda Ortmeyer will be here to present this program. Its focus is to develop leadership and service skills in students. The orientation will be in March and the students will serve September – April for the following school year. Parents, feel free to attend this presentation.

Happy Birthday to You:
