More snow! Really? Anyway, "This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it"! Hopefully that will be our attitude today as we do more homework at home. :)

In the effort to try and catch up on some grading,(so that I could actually have a mid-quarter grade figured for all of you) I took a few books home. Never fear, I have a scanner and I will email your work to you, Peyton (Language and Math), Theo (Language and Math) and Maris (Math).

Reading

I will be scanning and emailing you a worksheet called "The Miracle Resue". One page you will just read, the other page you will complete numbers 1, 2, and 3. I have them circled on the page. You can do numbers 4 and 5, if you like, but it is not required. We can talk about those in class. This worksheet will require a little bit of research, either in an encyclopedia or the internet. Call me if you have any questions.

Please bring the worksheet "What Would You Do" to class on Friday. With all this madness of snow days, I know we can forget to bring our homework. Especially if it is a loose worksheet. I hope you had fun interviewing your family or friends with that worksheet. Also, please do not read ahead in your Number the Stars book! Everyone should be ready to start Chapter 13 on Monday.

Please continue to read your book report book. It needs to be completely read by Monday, February 14.

Language

Parents, please read page 156 with your child about "Other Pronoun Uses". Please help them start memorizing the "Subjective pronouns" and "Objective Pronouns". They are listed on that page. Students do page 156 and 157.

Also, please remember to bring your "DOL Worksheet" that you worked on yesterday. You might have your parent look over it to make sure you caught all the mistakes.

Spelling

Do the "Journal Entry Idea" on page 73 about vacations. Also, pick 10 spelling words from the list and write 10 complete sentences with the spelling word in the sentence.

Study for Spelling Test. The test will be on Friday.

Creative Writing

You should have completed Step 1. of the Writing Process, "Read and Gather" on your favorite president yesterday (Tuesday). Please begin Step 2 and 3 today. Step 2. "Think and Plan" what you will write. Step 3. "Write and Rewrite". Please write a "rough draft" of your report. It can be very "rough", but should have at least 3 paragraphs of information.

Math

Do pages 173-176. You may mark out all the green on all four pages.

We will also have a Math Quiz on Friday. You will need to know the following: How many years in a Decade? Ounces in a pound? Quarts in a gallon? Feet in a mile? and Pecks in a bushel? Also, you will have to subtract fractions with borrowing.

Have a great snow day! Stay warm and cozy!
