Spelling

Wed: Do workbook page 39 ~ practice your words verbally with someone!

Thurs: Get a cookie sheet ~ fill it with snow ~ write your words in the snow! Use your finger or a stick or whatever ;-)

There WILL be a final test Friday !!

Science

Read pages 67-68

Parents, read this to your child: "Mother elephants have small tusks. Father elephants have much larger tusks. The father's tusks can weigh as much as 200-300 pounds, and they are taller than a grown man. Tusks are made of ivory. They are really two teeth that have grown very long. The elephant uses them to protect himself or to dig. The elephant also has other teeth inside his mouth. They are for eating food. These teeth inside his mouth can be a foot long. Each tooth weighs from 8 to 10 pounds. the elephant wears his teeth down. When this happens, the old teeth drop out and a new set comes in. This can happen as many as 6 times. How many sets of teeth does God give us? The elephant has heavy, round legs to hold up his huge body. The bottom of his feet are cushioned. This makes him more comfortable as he walks, because he is so heavy."

Do questions pg 68. Write the answers in your book.

Write 3 jobs than an elephant uses his trunk for and turn in on Friday.

Check your sheet I sent home. Work for Thurs and Fri. is on the sheet and will not be posted here. Here are the science questions for today.

** Parents read this to your child:

Many baby animals that hatch have an egg tooth. This special tooth is used only for breaking through the shell of the egg when it is time for the animal to hatch. Then after hatching, the egg tooth usually drops off. Who but God would have thought of a special tooth for baby animals that hatch! Without this tooth, they could not break through their shell to hatch.

1. Name some animals that hatch from eggs.

2. What helps a baby animal break the shell when it is time to hatch?

3. Does a baby animal always look like its parents?

4. Will a baby animal always look like at least one of its parents when it grows up?

5. How many eggs can a mother frog lay?

6. How many legs does a tadpole have?

7. What is God's plan to keep too many frogs from being in a pond?
